The year 1889 was a momentous one for Gaby Hardwicke Solicitors – it was the year Dr Frederick Goodwin founded the firm. The world has changed a lot since then and so has Gaby Hardwicke, but it’s important to us that we remember our roots.

  • The construction of the Eiffel Tower is completed. It serves as the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair.

  • William Gray patents the coin-operated telephone.
  • In football Preston wins the inaugural Football League in England, the first national football league anywhere in the world.
  • In boxing John L. Sullivan is heavyweight champion of the world.
  • The Coca-Cola Company (then known as the Pemberton Medicine Company) is originally incorporated in Atlanta, Georgia.
