Bexhill Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair proves just the job

We were delighted to sponsor the inaugural Bexhill Jobs & Apprenticeships Fair, which was held at the De La Warr Pavilion on 29 April 2016.

Business representatives from a wide range of sectors were there to provide career advice and make attendees aware of the jobs, internships and training schemes available to them. Solicitors from Gaby Hardwicke were on hand to discuss the range of legal careers we offer.

The fair was open to all, but particularly aimed at young people seeking employment or apprenticeships. Before the event, Bexhill College students were visited by Huw Merriman (MP for Bexhill and Battle), De La Warr Pavilion Chief Executive Stewart Drew and Bexhill Chamber of Commerce President Martin Riley to make them aware of the opportunities on offer.

Gaby Hardwicke Associate Solicitor Nicole Byrne, who was at the event, said: “The fair was very busy and the number of exhibitors and attendees showed how local businesses are thriving at the moment.

“It was interesting to speak to teenagers and young adults who had completely written off a career in law as the word ‘solicitor’ scared them off. Many were surprised to learn about the wide range of options available to them and said they would look into it further, which was nice to hear. We spoke to plenty of others, already studying law, who were looking for work experience.

“Huw Merriman told us he was particularly pleased to see Gaby Hardwicke attending, as he was a lawyer before entering Parliament and maintains a keen interest in the legal profession.”
