Domestic Violence and Abuse

Domestic violence and abuse is often a hidden crime and one that is rarely spoken about. It affects people from all walks of life regardless of their age, gender, religious beliefs or culture.

Domestic violence and abuse can take many different forms including actual physical violence, emotional abuse, financial control and sexual abuse. Examples include hitting, pushing, bullying, isolating you, denying you access to money, threatening you or your children, insulting, criticising or humiliating you.

Protecting your children from domestic violence and abuse

Children are particularly vulnerable to domestic violence or abuse in a family environment, whether they suffer the abuse directly or indirectly by seeing or hearing abuse inflicted on another family member. We can advise you on steps you can take to help protect your children from domestic violence and abuse.
