On Saturday 11th September members of Gaby Hardwicke Solicitors completed their latest fundraising challenge by covering 52 miles across the Sussex Coast in aid of their Charities of the Year, St Michael’s Hospice and St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
A bright and early start saw the first pair of runners set off from the firm’s Hailsham office, making their way along the Cuckoo Trail before a baton change and subsequent pit stop at St Wilfrid’s Hospice Eastbourne. After a quick meet and greet and handover of water and sweet treats, the runners headed for the next baton change at Gaby Hardwicke Headquarters in Eastbourne.
The next duo headed along the coast and up to Cooden Beach where the baton was handed over to fresh legs. Conditions remained good as the journey continued along seafront and up to the Gaby Hardwicke Bexhill offices. The next pitstop was made at St Michael’s Hospice in St Leonards where the runners were greeted by members of the Hospice Fundraising Team and staff from the In-Patient Unit. The baton was then taken to the Gaby Hardwicke offices in Wellington Square and back along the seafront to Bexhill where the team’s cyclists took the baton on its return journey via Normans Bay and Eastbourne finishing back at the Gaby Hardwicke Hailsham office.
Partner and event participant Jeremy Laws commented “It was great fun to be part of this fundraising initiative. Many charities have faced large losses from the impact of Covid-19 so they really need the help of fundraising from challenge events just like these to keep services running. However, it’s not just about the money, but awareness too. We wanted people to learn more about the charities and the wonderful work they do.”
