We’re delighted to announce that Gaby Hardwicke’s staff and partners raised £1,577 for our 2018 ‘Local Cause of the Year’, the Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings & St Leonards branches of the Dementia Action Alliance (DAA). We recently presented donation cheques to all three branches. The money will help them to continue their valuable work, supporting people living with dementia and their loved ones.
Among our fundraising initiatives was the 827km dementia challenge, in which members of our Central Services team walked, ran, swam or cycled to a combined target of 827km to mark Dementia Action Week. To help our teams better understand dementia and the work of the DAAs we organised learning sessions with representatives from the DAAs. We also offered all of our staff the opportunity to undertake ‘Dementia Friends’ training with Dementia Friends UK.
Charity of the Year 2019
With the start of the new year, we announced a new charitable cause on which to focus our efforts. Our 2019 ‘Charity of the Year’ is the Teenage Cancer Trust, a UK cancer care and support charity for young people aged 13 to 24. Find out more about the charity on our community page.
