Associate Solicitor, Personal Injury
James graduated with honours in Law from University College London in 2010 and completed the Legal Practice Course at Cardiff University in 2014. Before joining Gaby Hardwicke in 2017, he worked as a paralegal in the City. He was admitted as a Solicitor in 2019.
James has wide experience of dealing with complex matters, often with a significant technical or financial element. Examples of work he has assisted with include:
- R and C Electrical Engineers Limited v Shaylor Construction Limited  (a widely reported case in the construction industry).
- Acting for over a year for the Financial Conduct Authority in the review of a major bank’s decisions as to causation and quantum of loss following the mis-selling of interest rate hedging products.
- Acting for a private equity group on one of the largest European fundraising ventures to date (in excess of €15 billion).
Since qualification, James has been based in the Personal Injury department. He has worked almost exclusively on personal injury and clinical negligence litigation, and has been instrumental in achieving a settlement for a client in excess of £2 million. James has gained experience in attending inquests, High Court trials, mediation and settlement meetings. He deals with cases ranging from road traffic accidents to those of the utmost severity where our clients have experienced life changing injuries, including claims involving amputations, head injuries and claims for delayed diagnosis of cancer.
James is used to working closely with some of the most experienced barristers and medical experts in the country to achieve the best possible outcomes for his clients.
Outside work, James enjoys reading, motorsport and travelling in Europe.
